Hey how are you? What happened to February?

We’ve got lots to tell you but here is a real “thank you” from us.

MCCIT recently launched a new business directory called
www.nationalindex.co.uk

from our website to yours. The benefit to you is that we will send you more
website visitors and we know that more visitors create more opportunities to
make more sales. Adding your site to our directory is very simple but if you
are too busy to do it yourself then let us do it for you. Just send us an
email with your details and we’ll do the rest. Early indications is that the
site will be very busy with lots of visitors! This is completely free and
there are no catches.

Help us by promoting
www.nationalindex.co.uk
on your facebook and twitter accounts.

OK and moving on:

If the above doesn’t temp you then try  this month’s special offer of a
30% discount off our hosted email service when you purchase 3 or more
accounts. Whether you are looking for Microsoft hosted exchange or our email
anywhere packages this discount is for the life of the package. This is a
special offer that ends at the end of April.

Looking at creating a business continuity plan?

MCCIT can offer your company many services such as hosted cloud servers with
Microsoft Windows 2003 or 2008 and come in 32 or 64 bit. We have found that
this is a real alternative to having a server in your office.

One of the benefits of having a cloud server is that should you not be able
to get to your office, you and your employees can work from home! Not being
able to get to the office because… is no longer an excuse not to get the job
done.

Lets talk websites;

If you are looking to have a website consider an off the shelf product  like
Joomla, Word Press or Drupal to name a few that are supported globally, easy
to use and can be hosted on 95% of all hosting companies. This means that
once your site is built you can move it as often as you like, because it is
yours!

We are very pleased to offer hosted Joomla, Drupal and WordPress websites
Free with all our hosting plans starting at just £4.99 per month for the
life of the account! This is a special offer reduced from £11.99 that ends
at the end of April.

Is your website looking a little tired? Why not let one of our designers
have a look at your website and give you ideas on how to bring your website
up to date? This is a free consultancy service so take full advantage of it.

And finally..

Come and visit us at the Brighton and Hove business show. This is the third
year that we have attended the show. This year we are also co-sponsoring
the show.

So if you have a couple of hours why not come and see us at the show. For
full details follow this link: http://www.brightonandhovebusinessshow.co.uk

Look out for our next newsletter that will have information about our very
own Cloud Services.

Have a great Month.

Enterprise Email for Small Business

December 6th, 2009 by admin
In the past you could only choose between POP mail or Microsoft Exchange mail. Smaller businesses generally opted for POP mail because of the lower cost. In most cases POP mail comes free from the company that is hosting your website. However, POP mail comes with restrictions such as small attachment file sizes, small storage space on the email server (you certainly can’t let your mail accumulate on their server), and as for sending mail, you sometimes have to use your Internet Service Provider to send your email through. If you wanted an Enterprise solution like Microsoft Exchange then it meant that you needed to buy a server or pay extortionate prices for a large corporate hosting solution. We have done away with these restrictions!
Now, with our email system, you can:
  • send emails with attachments up to 50 megabytes in size through our servers
  • securely store your emails on our servers because of the amount of space that we give you and the assurance that no one can read your emails except you.
  • Webmail:  each email account is provided with an easy to use webmail portal for those times when you are away from your computer

If you need an Enterprise solution then we have Microsoft Exchange accounts at very competitive prices without any setup fees or long term contracts see here http://mccit.co.uk/microsoft-exchange.html

When putting this product together we looked at what is being offered on the market and decided that we can do better. Our aim was to give our clients a secure product that will benefit their business and at the same time give them real value for money. We wanted to give you something that gave you lots of space, offered online Virus scanning before the emails get sent to you, a spam filter and is secure and easy to use.

  1. Space: All our standard Email accounts come with 10 Gigabytes of space. That’s the equivalent to 10 years worth of emails. This means that you no longer need to delete your old emails or archive them to your computer.
  2. Grows with you: All out mailboxes are expandable. So if you do use up all of that 10 Gigabytes of space we have more for you to use.
  3. Virus scanning: All your email will be scanned for viruses, malware and spam before you get it in your inbox.
  4. Automatic daily backups
  5. Ease of use: Our systems work with your current systems, so you don’t need to buy anything else to make it work.
These are some of the benefits:
  • A huge10 Gigabytes of space
  • Access email on your Blackberry, iPhone, Windows Mobile, email enabled regular mobile phone (so you are always in touch)
  • Use with Outlook, Outlook Express, Thunderbird, Apple Mail, Entourage, and lots of other email clients.
  • We configure everything for you
  • Support is only a telephone call away
  • Use our intuitive state of the art webmail without any distracting adverts!
With this much space you will probably never need to delete anything ever again! But just as important is the spam filtering. Everyday thousands and thousands of Spam emails get sent out and it used to end up in my Inbox, but not anymore. Now they all go into a spam folder where I can choose to view them at my convenience instead of having to move them or delete them or even open every email that came in.
We are going to market this product in February 2010 at £5.99 per account per month. Our clients will be offered these at a reduced cost at just £5.99 per account per month.
However, if you can see the benefits right away we are further reducing the cost to just £3.99 for the first 10 businesses that sign-up. These prices are fixed at £3.99 for the life of the account!

Just think about it:
  • No more backing up of your current email
  • No more archiving email
  • You won’t run out of space because we are giving you 10 Gigabytes (and we are working on increasing this further!)
If you are a little unsure, we are happy for you to trial it for 2 months at just £1.99 per account per month. After your trial period the price increases to just £5.99 per account per month.
So what are you waiting for?  We offer a Guaranteed 100% uptime! To be honest if you have ever used Hotmail, Yahoo Mail or GMail you’ll like what you see, and no annoying adverts!
I do hope that you take full advantage of this offer because it is low cost and the benefits may outweigh what you are currently using.
If you have any questions or would like a demo do drop me an email or call me on 0845 652 1945 or my mobile 07920 488 450

Usb just gets faster with Usb 3 SuperSpeed

November 9th, 2009 by admin

usb-3It keeps getting faster, USB 3.0 SuperSpeed will be a massive 10 times faster than the 480Mbps limit of the old 2.0 spec. The example Intel likes to give out when talking about the new speed lets say transferring a 27GB HD movie to your future media player will only take 70 seconds with USB 3.0, while it would take 15 minutes or more with 2.0.Or this sounds just as good it’s the equivalent of moving almost one full CD’s worth of data in 1 second!
The good thing like all usb cables will be physically and functionally compatible with hardware from the older specs rah!.USB 3.0 achieves those speeds with a new plug and cable format, but it’s all backward-compatible with USB 2.0 and USB 1.1. Plug in your old device, and it will still work (at the older speed). Plug a USB 3.0 device into a USB 2.0 port, and it will run at the slower speed

Usb 3 should hit us early in 2010

The Best Free PC Tools For Your Computer

Best Free Popup Blocker – Google Toolbar

Google toolbar does have its limitations in terms of popup blocking but because of its combination of ease and effectiveness it is the best free popup blocker for novice users, in particular. Once you have installed the Google toolbar you will barely even notice that it is there doing its job. As well as blocking all those nasty popups the toolbar enables you to use the control button for opening popups from a single page as well as the option to allow popups from any trusted domains.

Avast Free antivirus much better than avg!
We all know how important our online security is. Spyware may be the latest in thing when it comes to malicious software but viruses are still rife and still potentially lethal for your computer. The most popular free antivirus with more than 80 000 000 registered users. Perfect for people who send e-mails and surf popular websites, but do not store any sensitive data on their computers
Best Free Anti-Spyware – Spybot Search & Destroy
Free anti-spyware programs rarely, if ever, offer the same complete protection and security that their paid counterparts offer. Spybot Search & Destroy comes as close as possible though. The immunization feature is among the most powerful available on any free package and the TeaTimer function enables real time scanning and protection. Spybot, unfortunately, does not offer the same level of protection as other paid offerings do.

Best Free Registry Cleaner ccleaner
Over 330 million downloads!!!
CCleaner is a freeware system optimization, privacy and cleaning tool. It removes unused files from your system - allowing Windows to run faster and freeing up valuable hard disk space. It also cleans traces of your online activities such as your Internet history. Additionally it contains a fully featured registry cleaner. But the best part is that it’s fast (normally taking less than a second to run) and contains NO Spyware or Adware!

funny-blackberry-phoneBlackberry Storm is one of the best selling smart phones today and that is the reason you can find many themes, games and apps designed for Storm. Here are some quick tips you might find handy one day.

Camera Tips:

•To zoom in or out in blackberry storm camera, swap your fingers up or down when mobile is in camera mode. You can also press volume up or volume down key to zoom in or out.
•To lock focus on an object before taking the photo, press the Right Convenience key half way (located on the side of phone under volume key). When you want to take photo press the same button all the way down.

Battery Saving Tips:

•When using first time, charge battery to its full potential 100%. Do not worry about over charging of battery. This may take up to 4 hours. Sometimes new Li-ions batteries come fully charged.

•Keep the Bluetooth off when you do not need it.
•You can dim screen to 65% to save the battery.
•Vibration and loud volume can drain battery very quickly.
•If you are in an area with very weak reception. Either turn off your Storm or put it in Airplane mode so that it does not keep searching for signals and battery is used less.

General Tips and Shortcut keys:

•To make the keyboard disappear from screen, swap your fingers in downward direction over the keyboard. To make it reappear, swap your finger in and upward direction on screen and the keyboard will be visible.
•To play next or previous song, click volume key up or down.

Effectively Boost Your Wireless Router Signal

September 23rd, 2009 by admin

funny-wireless-technologyPosition it better
Unless you are living in a cave and you somehow miraculously have internet connectivity at the same time, you probably figured out that if your wireless router was in the corner of your kitchen under a pile of old newspapers and your computer was located on the second floor on the opposite side of the house — it is a great idea to place your router in an open position (preferably in the center of your house) where it isn’t obstructed by dense or metallic objects such as file cabinets or brick walls.

Other items that may interfere with your signal include (but are not limited to) microwave ovens, cordless phones, garage door openers, and even baby monitors. The bottom line is that the less objects in the signal’s way, the easier it is for it to relay information to your computer.

Change the WiFi Channel
Generally, Wifi routers transmit their signals on a radio frequency of 2.4 GHz. Many other household objects may operate on or around the same frequency, like cordless phones, for example. So, the channel becomes bogged down over time with lots of excess traffic that slows down your wireless connection. In the U.S., routers have a predefined set of 11 channels, and the default on a lot of them is channel 6. Changing the channel would reduce some interference. So how do you change the channel?

A great utility many people use is called NetStumbler, a wireless networking tool that just so happens to offer the option for you to change your wifi channel. Once opened, the program gives the choice of fooling around with all of your wireless utilities. Here is where you change your channel:

Since the default for most people (at least in the United States) is 6, you may want to change your channel to something like say, channel 11. Take note that the changing of your wireless channel will NOT in any way increase your speed or bandwith. It will simply remedy your network connection if it keeps breaking off or getting lost.

Update firmware or drivers
Updates, whether related to the router firmware or your computer’s network adapter are done to fix bugs, smoothen out performance and reliability, and maybe even add new features. It is always a good idea to stay up to date with the latest releases by either of these parties

Top 10 Security Tips For your Home PC

September 19th, 2009 by admin

virus-security

Enjoy our Top 10 Computer Security Tips, the following are summaries those generally regarded as the most valuable

1. Use plain old common sense. When in doubt, err of the side of safety. Delete email attachments from people you don’t know (WITHOUT opening them!). Beware especially aware of tempting animations on unprofessional-looking sites. Keep an eye out for strange links or attachments in Instant Messaging (IM) programs—they just might contain malicious code.
2. Still use floppies? Scan them before use. This tip is especially critical if you use floppy disks to transfer files between PCs. Always scan them for viruses and other threats before transferring their contents to any computer.
3. Label floppies—and don’t share. Even well meaning associates can unwittingly transmit viruses, worms, Trojan horses or worse. Label your disks clearly, and “neither a borrower nor lender be.” Use alternate methods for sharing files.
4. Never boot from floppy disks. This is one of the most common ways viruses can be transmitted. Always remember to remove inserted floppies before shutting down any PC; otherwise, it will automatically attempt to boot from what may already be a virus-laden disk.
5. Avoid downloading files of which you’re unsure. Be on the lookout for files such as freeware, screensavers, games or other executable programs. Internet news groups and web sites may be full of potential threats, so be sure to scan all downloads before running them. It may be helpful to download files to a “Scan” folder and then scan the entire folder’s contents.
6. Frequently update your anti-virus software. Even the best anti-virus software isn’t much help unless you keep it updated. New PC threats emerge daily—even hourly—and variations can often be engineered to slip by previous software versions. Most anti-virus software allows easy online updating.
7. Protect system startups. Make sure to configure anti-virus software to launch automatically and run constantly, ensuring that you’re always protected.
8. Scan incoming email/attachments. Again, you must scan each attached file from email or IM messages—even those from trusted sources. Most PC security software automatically performs this function.
9. Don’t automatically open email/attachments. This may seem redundant, but it’s important. Make sure your email application doesn’t automatically open messages (Check the program’s Options or Preferences menus).
10. Install professional anti-virus software — and keep virus definitions up to date. Proper anti-virus and other PC security applications can scan files for unusual changes and other warning signs. This is by far the most important step you can take to keep PCs as safe and secure as possible.

Google Launches New Ad Marketplace

September 18th, 2009 by admin

Will display adverts now be a thing of the past? Now that speculation has become reality.
Google has just launched the DoubleClick Ad Exchange, and it is just like AdWords and AdSense,
except that it is a marketplace for display ads
First, here is what Google said in its announcement:
Is this the next big hit
